Issued in 1988, Australia’s inaugural five-dollar coin marked the official opening of the new Parliament House in Canberra by Queen Elizabeth II on 9 May 1988. The uncirculated edition was distributed through the Commonwealth Bank.
An estimated 3 million coins were issued as part of this commemorative release.
