2021 Australian $2 Two Dollar Indigenous Military Service coin - UNC from RAM Bag
In recognition of the significant contributions made by Indigenous Military Personnel, the Royal Australian Mint issued a special coin honoring the men and women who served in the Australian military. These individuals have played crucial roles in every conflict and commitment involving Australian defense contingents since Federation, exemplifying resilience and commitment in historical events such as Gallipoli, Kokoda, and Vietnam.
The coin's design, inspired by the artwork of Chern’ee Sutton, intricately weaves together Indigenous and military symbols. The reverse features a central black hand-print, a powerful representation of identity and connection to service. Surrounding this focal point are three rows of dots, each adorned with colors reminiscent of the Defence Forces Tri-Service Flag. Embracing the hand-print is a snake intricately decorated with Aboriginal symbols, adding depth and cultural significance to the overall design.
The inscription "INDIGENOUS MILITARY SERVICE" is elegantly displayed above the central motif, encapsulating the spirit and history of Indigenous Australians' dedication to military service.
On the obverse side, the coin includes essential details such as the denomination, value, and the date of issue, providing a lasting tribute to the enduring legacy of Indigenous individuals in the Australian military.
